Michel Caillard is a Languedoc (Southern France) native, from a dynasty of horse merchants, farmers and vintners. After spending almost twenty years abroad travelling for the music industry as a niche market development specialist, fate took him back to his homeland in 2009.
This is where he decided to give justice to the wines he loved and their producers, by adapting his marketing skills to another kind of artist production. He created his own agency, Different Wines – a statement in itself – and carefully selected artisan wines that made the difference to bring them to the most exciting market today: Asia.
Since wine is above all about humans meeting humans, Michel’s mission is to create links between passionate winemakers like Yves Cuilleron, Olivier Decelle, Rémy Pédreno, Gérard Gauby, Olivier Jeantet and others and the most dedicated, open-minded importers, sommeliers and chefs in Singapore, Malaysia, China, HK, Korea, Indonesia, Thailand, GCC… Making the world a smaller place every time.
Constantly defending a certain idea of luxury – rarity, uniqueness, handcrafting – Different Wines is now listed on some of the best tables in Asia: Restaurant André, Robuchon, Waku Ghin in Singapore.
